Days after the death of a resident doctor of the OAUTHC in Ile Ife, Osun state Ministry of health has raised an alarm of the possible outbreak of Lassa fever virus in the state.
Lab results revealed that the undisclosed resident doctor died of Lassa fever, a highly contagious disease that has claimed over 63 lives in Nigeria since its outbreak.
Osun State Government yesterday revealed that another 55 persons who had contact with the resident doctor in the same hospital have been isolated to prevent outbreak.
As at the time of this report, none of the 55 had symptoms of Lassa fever disease.
