Man Kills Pregnant Girlfriend In Kano For Refusing To Terminate Pregnancy
The gruesome murder of a two-months pregnant woman in Kano state has shocked and saddened the residents. The victim, Theresa Yakubu, was allegedly strangled to death by her 20-year-old boyfriend, Philibus Ibrahim, after several attempts to terminate the pregnancy failed.
According to reports, Philibus lured Theresa to a nearby bush where he and his friend Gabriel Bila allegedly tied a head-tie around her neck and strangled her to death. After the murder, the two suspects reportedly fled the scene and went into hiding.
However, luck ran out on Philibus when he was apprehended by the Kano state police command, which had been on the trail of the perpetrators of the heinous crime. In a statement issued by the command’s spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna, Philibus confessed to the crime and implicated his friend Gabriel Bila.
The Kano state police command has vowed to track down and bring Gabriel Bila to justice. The spokesman of the command stated that the suspect is currently on the run, but that the police are leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to bring him to justice.
The murder of Theresa Yakubu has sparked outrage across the country, with many calling for justice for the victim and for the perpetrators to face the full wrath of the law. The incident has also highlighted the growing problem of gender-based violence and femicide in Nigeria.
In recent years, there have been numerous cases of women being killed by their partners or lovers in Nigeria. This has prompted calls for stricter laws to protect women and for the government to take action to address the root causes of gender-based violence in the country.
Many have also called for greater awareness and education on the issue, to help change societal attitudes towards women and prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
The murder of Theresa Yakubu has brought to the fore once again the need for urgent action to tackle gender-based violence in Nigeria. It is hoped that justice will be served and that the government and other stakeholders will take concrete steps to address this growing problem in the country.
