Dec 14, 2014 – N3 Billion Nollywood Grant: Segun Arinze & Ibinabo Fiberesima Drags Selected Nollywood Stars To Aso Rock Presidential Villa Abuja To Thank Jonathan

On Friday, former Actors Guild of Nigeria president Segun Arinze and the present preso, Ibinabo led selected Nollywood practitioners to Aso Rock Presidential villa in Abuja for a meeting with Jonathan where they presented him with an award plaque and honoured him for his contribution to Nollywood.

See photos of Segun Arinze and other Nollywood stars in Aso Rock below:

Recall that Jonathan recently dedicated a whopping N3 billion Naira grant for the development of Nollywood, a money that never reached half of the movie stars.

According to critics, Ibinabo is only giving out part of the grant to those who supported her re-election, leaving others out as if they’re not Nigerians…. #god dey o

Jonathan our celebratory President sabi meeting with those who praise him.

He spent three Billion Naira on Nollywood just like that, when many University graduates are still battling with unemployment.

What does it take President Jonathan to invest that money in real businesses that will provide real job opportunities for unemployed graduates.

What contribution is Nollywood making to reduce unemployment in Nigeria? #food for thoughts

This is the handiwork of lobbyists, I have been there and have experienced it too many times.
They lobbied for the money and out of the 3 billion naira, don’t be surprised that only 500 million will reach Nollywood while the rest will stay in the pocket of the President Jonathan, his VP, AGN leaders and the lobbyists who pushed for the money.

Jonathan, you are the most disgraceful leader in the history of running a country. What a useless man and useless investment.
The country is lacking good hospitals, schools, roads and electricity and you are investing billions on nigerian movies? A lack of leadership qualities IS CLEAR.
NIGERIANS, WAKE UP AND LETS PUT OUR HANDS TOGETHER AND GET RID OF THIS MONKEY. HE SHOULD GO BACK TO THE ZOO THAT OBASANJO GOT HIM FROM. JONATHAN, YOU NEED TO BE IN YOUR CAGE. WHAT A PITY FOR NIGERIA.

    Mr President,
No amount of “agbada” wearing and visits to the Yoruba kings will work in capturing the southwest this time. They supported you the last time with expectation of competency in solving the country’s problem but you achieved no single goal.
Just keep bribing and calling it grants, it would not work. Go and rest, let a more competent person fix the problems.

I assume the person that wrote this is anti GEJ, because, if you say that Nollywood have nothing to offer, i bet you came from another planet.
Nollywood created over 10,000jobs in Nigeria.
My only concern remains on how the money will be used, because, it does not mean sharring money in hand.
It is supposed to be used for build the movie industry, purchase good cameras, build good locations instead of renting.
Anyway, Nigerians are the most curropt and selfish felas on earth.

This is a clear case of misplaced priority. In a nation where 57 graduates seeking for Nigerian Custom and immigration were murdered in a stadium by govt. officials in a day, giving or allocating such amount of money to Nollywood shows that Nigeria will see more setbacks and hardship if president Jonathan is allowed to rig next year presidential election. Our health care system is so bad that Mr. President, his families, his friends, and most of our corrupt politicians go abroad for already headache, medical check up, and other common illnesses because of poor medical infrastructures. Therefore, giving Nollywood 3 billions is a dumbest idea. What about Nigerian electricity supply? Any nation like Nigeria with crippled supply of electric power will not see real economic and social growth. One will think that president Jonathan will be meeting with local and foreign investors on how to generate more electicity for our people but instead, Jona is meeting with Nollywood actors and actresses for reelection campaign. What a shame! Are we talking about the same shameless and corrupt Nollywood guys who rallied for Sanni Abacha reelection campaign before his sudden death? Only in a lawless nation like Nigeria that crazy politicians do dumb stuffs. If the general election was to take place today, President Jonathan will lose the those Nollywood votes by more than 80% among those that visited him at the Aso Rock Villa. It a very sad thing that anybody singing Jonathan’s false praise can visit Aso Rock and come out with his/her own share of the national cake. My question to Mr. President is that, when are over 170 millions suffering Nigerians with the real power of votes going to enjoy the dividends of democracy after six years of his bloody, reckless and failed presidency?
