June 9, 2014 – New Emir Of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Escapes Arrest By SSS In Kano – How Governor Rabiu Saved Him
The former Governor of the Central Bank Of Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has been installed as the new Emir of Kano state Nigeria after the death of late Alhaji Ado Bayero.
Sanusi arrived in style in Kano today for his turbaning ceremony.
He is the second highest Islamic figure in Nigeria after the Sultan of Sokoto.
The original heir to the throne, Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero was pushed aside after Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was given an appointment letter by the Governor of Kano state.
Former Emir of Kano Ado Bayero passed away on the 6th of June at age 83 after a longtime battle with cancer.
Gov Kwankwaso, while speaking at Sanusi’s turbaning ceremony said:
“The appointment of an emir is not a political issue. It is unfortunate that some enemies of Kano State attempted to politicise this process.”
According to anonymous security sources, Sanusi Lamido narrowed escaped arrest at his resident in Kano on Sunday.
When Kano state Governor was alerted of the planned arrest, he quickly sneaked Sanusi out of Kano to an undisclosed location.
President Goodluck Jonathan allegedly ordered men from State Security Services to arrest Sanusi in order to prevent him from becoming the Emir of Kano – said a security source.
