March 26, 2016 – Nollywood Actress Kehinde Bankole: Why I Don’t Wear Native Attires

True confession by Kenny Bankole

“I don’t wear native outfits because they don’t make me comfortable. I like to be comfortable when I dress and I don’t get that whenever I wear native attire. I tie my wrapper to the right while ideally I ought to tie it to the left. Also, to walk in native attire can be very stressful. If the occasion does not call for it, then I try to avoid it and go for something that would be more comfortable.

I don’t tie headgear also because it gives me a headache. I am sure it does not happen to me alone. I like the way it looks but I hate the way it makes me feel. I only wear it for traditional weddings and the likes but I am not a big fan.”

I feel the same way too. Its too stressful, but what can we do, we are africans and we can’t go to occasions that requires native clothes with English clothes.

Danti, your statement is so hilarious.”Okah oooooo oyinbo Dudu!” You made me laugh until my stomach started hurting me. That was a good one. l don’t know what is wrong with our women. She is created to be gorgeous in her God’s giving traditional wear and she is complaining. Thank God, she has not changed her name to Mary Johnson. My dearest ‘Omomeji’ Kehinde Bankole, please try to adjust. You are looking so magnificent in your native attire. May the Creator continue to bless you.
