The joy of a new mother was turned into sorrow shortly after she put to bed in India.

A 22-year-old Indian woman delivered a baby looking exactly like a mermaid on Friday the 27th of April 2016.

The baby which resembled a strange creature was born with 2 legs joined together and a fish-like body.

The gynecologist who delivered the baby, 35-year-old Dr Vandana Arya said the creature died 10 minutes after birth.

The bizarre creature turned Sahi Ram Hospital in Sahranpur, Uttar Pradesh into a tourist attraction center.

Dr Arya said because of the rare condition, it’s impossible to determine the baby’s gender.

The baby suffered from a very rare mermaid sydrome called Sirenomelia.
