Baby Dominique (last name withheld by doctors) has been successfully separated from her parasitic twin in a complex surgery carried out on the 8th of March at the Advocate Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois.

10-month old Dominique is now recovering at the home of her foster family in Chicago.

Here is what her foster mom, Nancy Swabb told Reuters:

Due to financial constraint, her Ivorian parents couldn’t come over to join her in the United States.
