23-year-old participant in the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders died this past Saturday after he fell into the river while hiking to Cascade Falls in Giles County.
John Paul Ojaojogwu Usman from Kogi state was taking classes at the Virginia Tech Language and Culture Institute when he went hiking with friends before he met his untimely death.
The deceased was part of over 100 Nigerians now in the U.S. under the 2016 Mandela Washington Fellowship programme.
May his soul rest in peace (amen).
