January 27, 2018 – 8000 Year Old Nigerian Dufuna Canoe Named Third Oldest Canoe In The World

The third largest Canoe in the world has been unveiled at the National Museum in Maiduguri Borno state NE Nigeria.

The museum manager, Aisha Jidda called for further studies on the 8000 year old canoe named Dufuna which was discovered in Yobe state back in the 1987.

She said the age of the canoe was detected through radio carbon dating by two top universities in Germany.

The Canoe was discovered few kilometers from Dufuna village in Fune LGA of Yobe state by a Fulani herdsman back in 1987.
