January 13, 2014 – Wealthiest Nigerian King Obateru Akinruntan Boasts ‘I Wear One Million Dollar Wrist Watch & Shop In London’

Wealthiest King in Africa, Oba Obateru Akinruntan, the Olugbo of Ugboland in Ondo State recently talked at length on his love for flashy things.

In this recent interview with City People, the bling bling king said he loves to wear expensive things.  He also compared himself to the Queen of England in terms of material acquisition.

Obateru said he now has a 7-door limousine and wears one million dollar wrist watch.

Hear Oba Akinruntan in his own words:

“First and foremost I am very creative and secondly, I emulate the style of our forefathers, wearing royal beads as an old style. You know these days, if you want to become a popular and flamboyant king, you have to use diamonds. Diamond chains, diamond wrist watches, diamond shoes, diamond ring and my muffler is also made of diamond or gold. And that will make you unique among other Obas and that doesn’t make you proud. I like to be the first in everything. I have the largest oil tank in West Arica today. Again my chain of cars, I use the same type of automobile with the Queen of England, Queen Elizerbeth, we use the same Rolls Royce and Bentley. Asides that, I have 7 door limousine Mercedes, I want to be the first in everything.

“I also have a wrist watch that cost $1 million. Aside that I am a car freak and what I wear with the way I dress, my shoe, my royal diamond cap, wrist watches, diamond ring, and my diamond Mofila is the new thing I have added to it now. I do my shopping in London Jeweller, a special store for top ranking personalities of the world. I wear expensive wrist watches, shoes and chains all made of diamond”

Yes he is a wealthy king and a oil billionaire. He is the owner of Obat Oil & Petroleum limited.

Plenty money dey for this oil business oo.

Oba ruling Ondo people from Ibadan. Go live amongst your subject, you cannot because of all the evils you have done. God is watching you.

Every contributors in this forum has rightly said it all. In fact, there’s nothing to add except it is shameful to note someone of his status could be talking as one without brain to process his thoughts. Anyway, only a retard will reason as such. I bet many of the people that lives in the town where he rules lives in abject poverty while he took to the media boasting; forgetting the Lord gives and can take away in a split of seconds. Perhaps, he needs to be reminded about the story of Lazarus and the Rich man in the bible to fully get the concept of what the Lord has in stock for people of his likes. Because, it is in human nature to sometimes forget their origin when they eat and belle-full. King Nebuchadineza did it and paid the price in full.

How dare he’s comparing his wealth with that of Queen Elizabeth family which of cause is generational acquisitions. He has only began acquiring his wealth and hasn’t last between four and five generations. If the wealth survive seventy to hundred years then, there can be comparison. I am ashamed of this message coming from a guy as this. Don’t ever comp are your self with queen Elizabeth, in fact, its embarrassing to the Queen that an illiterate in one bush in Africa is comparing himself with the queen.

Dont misunderstand the king and never be in a haste to utter derogatory statements against a king,an elderly and a rich man bc we all desire to grow old. 2.Nobody likes poverty,God hates poverty deut 28.15….poverty is a curse. All your observation that he should help the poor, the community, the needy is correct and in line with GODS mind(give thy bread to d hungry, bring d cast out poor to thy house, cover the naked-then when u call GOD ,He will answer and make u rich and satisfy thy soul in drought/satisfy ur mouth with good things-isaiah 58.7-14,ps 103.5.Summary,most of these writers dont know the king intimately, you read about him from afar off, even from outside the shores of Ng I know him a little but God knows him completely.I know he helps the poor he will do more,he calls upon GOD daily in his abode sanctuary. When mafia, ungodly ppl display stupendous ill gotten wealth-should ppl calling upon God hide their head in shame and poverty?when u get there and superflously rich ,dont let me see u ride bicycle and mobylette and write God is good on it at age 75when all your teeth is fallen off

The real kings in Yorubaland will never boast about anything they possess but he is a fake and forceful king, he forced his way into the throne by bullying, killing and rendering his people homeless.

As for me, I don’t think we should start blaming d man for what he did. Cos, none of us has a direct link to d people of his community & dis man might be a philantropist in d community. And we be shld be thanking God for everything. So, for dis, it’s d only God dat can eradicate poverty. In dis country there’s a government but no governance. But, I want us remember dat it’s only God dat can inherit both life & heaven & there’ll surelly be a reward for whatever we do in dis life

  36. francis

    January 10, 2015 at 6:30 PM

Is this really this oba’s speech or it is forged. If it is for real, then this oba is a senseless nonentity. How can he compare himself to the Queen of England.
After comparing himself, he should compare his subjects. If his subjects are not on the same level as those in London, then he should hide his face in shame and shut up. most of the Queens subjects can afford a good life while I’m sure most of his are languishing in poverty.

Oba è dake and be ashamed of yourself and others like you.

You human beings sha.So it is a crime to be stylish and classy if u have worked very hard. This king use to be a very hardworking entrepreneur and business colossus at apapa in lagos in d late nineties and early two thousands.Infact I had d opportunity to meet him once at d mega plaza in v/i and he was accessible den and down to earth. So now dat he is a king I am sure he wuld have a foundation or scholarship to help d less fortunate and to empower dem so I don’t think u guys shuld just judge him wen u don’t even know him.If he lives in opulence dats hiis choice and he wasn’t a politician dat stole money in govt.its his sweat. What abt d Ooni of Ife or d late Emir of kano Ado Bayero or even internationally d Sultan of Brunei or King Faad or Prince Alwaleel Bin Talal or d King of Malaysia. They all live in opulence so let’s be fair in our statements instead of beefing. They where also very classy and even arrogant.Dis Obat guy is very amiable so pls don’t judge ppl u don’t know.

I really do not know him well but I know people that are close to him and none has ever described him as a proud man. This man has transformed Ugbo land and anybody from that area can testify to this.

Transform Ugbo to London. No need to brag. Help your community with your wealth – good road, portable water, 24 hours electricity. Make a positive change. No need to ride the most expensive cars when there are no good roads in Nigeria.
