Feb 24, 2014 – Segun Arinze Defends Nollywood’s Visit To Aso Rock “We Didn’t Beg President Jonathan For Money”

Last week, some delegates from Actors Guilds of Nigeria paid a courtesy visit to President Jonathan at the State House in Abuja.

Popular faces like Fred Amata, Chidi Mokeke, Aneke twins, Monalisa Chinda, Stephanie Okekere, Mercy Aigbe, Joseph Benjamin and others were there to represent their colleagues as they made President Jonathan the Grand patron of the association (AGN).

The visit however didn’t go well with some Nollywood fans who accused the celebrities of falling out of tune with the yearnings of the masses by celebrating what they call mediocrity and government ineptitude with their visit.

In defence of the Nollywood celebrities, Segun Arinze said:

“I think it’s so unfair for anyone to criticise AGN for paying a courtesy visit to President Goodluck Jonathan. We are an Association in Nollywood and our visit was to discuss issues as it affects our Guild and the industry in general.
Everybody transported themselves to and fro. We didn’t go begging for alms.”

Sources in the know disclosed that all the celebrities who visited the State House last week returned home fully loaded.
