Actor Yemi Ayebo Expresses Disappointment over Gospel Singer Tope Alabi’s Alleged Neglect

Yemi Ayebo, better known by his stage name “Yemi My Lover,” has voiced his disappointment in the renowned gospel singer, Tope Alabi, accusing her of neglect and aloofness since her rise to fame.

In an expository video created by the veteran actor-turned-singer, he recounted the days when Alabi was still an understudy in the film industry in the 90s, under his tutelage. Reflecting on their shared past, Ayebo expressed his disillusionment regarding the change in their relationship, especially considering he played a significant role in the initial stages of her career.

The multi-talented entertainer went on to detail his grievances, stating that Alabi has offered no assistance or goodwill to him since her ascent in the entertainment industry. He lamented the lack of reciprocity, highlighting the unreturned calls and the absence of any form of acknowledgment for his contributions to her career.

Adding further fuel to the fire, Ayebo expressed dismay over Alabi’s disregard for personal milestones in his life, citing a particular instance when she failed to acknowledge his birthday. According to him, despite personally delivering an invitation letter to her office for his birthday celebration, Alabi neither attended the event nor did she send a gift or birthday wishes in her absence.

However, despite the series of disappointments and perceived disregard, Ayebo made it clear that he harbors no ill feelings. Instead, he portrayed the situation as a reflection of her character and personal choices. He didn’t hesitate to draw attention to the paradox he observed, stating that despite their sacred vocation, some gospel musicians could display behaviors that were less than virtuous, if not more so, than regular individuals.

He said, “Tope Alabi was once under my tutelage in the film industry during the 90s. It’s sad that despite her current status and the success she’s attained, I can’t recall a single instance where she offered any help in return. It seems she’s chosen to ignore my calls, and even my efforts to celebrate milestones together.

“I remember last year when I was about to celebrate my birthday, I took the initiative to hand-deliver the invitation letter to her office, hoping for her participation. Unfortunately, she didn’t grace the occasion nor did she send a gift. Worse, she didn’t even wish me well on my birthday.

“But I’m not resentful. That’s her chosen path and reflects on her character, not mine. It’s ironic though, that some of these gospel singers, despite their religious affiliations, have character flaws that might be more pronounced than those of average individuals,” he expressed.
