June 4, 2015 – Accra Ghana Killer Flood 2015: John Dumelo Blames Ghanaians Throwing Rubbish Around

Yesterday a killer flood forced several Ghanaians to seek refuge at a filing station in Accra but sadly the flood later caused a major explosion at the gas station, killing almost all the refugees.

Disturbing photos of a baby and a mother that died in the floor and other gory pictures took the web by storm today as many blamed Ghanaian government for the poor drainage system in the country.

Gallywood actor John Dumelo who is currently in Zambia said poor sanitary habits of most Ghanaians contributed to the flood.

In his words;

“These disturbing pictures from Accra saddens my heart. My heart goes out to the families of those who lost their lives. Let’s tackle the sanitation issues properly. I think it has more to do with our attitude when it comes to sanitation i.e how we just throw rubbish around, how we dispose and manage the rubbish. No matter how big the drains are constructed, if there’s rubbish, it will block these drains and floods will happen. Together we can make Ghana a better place!”

President Mahama also visited the scene of the explosion today, calling the death toll catastrophic. He offered his condolences to the families of the deceased.

Here are some photos from the scene of the disaster.

West Africa needs divine intervention. Our leaders are getting richer daily while citizens are dying cheaply everyday.

It is painful. RIP to the victims!

This FLOOD situation has nothing to do with God .
GOD IS NOT THE ONE THAT WILL HELP YOU CLEAR OUT YOUR RUBBISH .

IF YOU DUMP YOUR RUBISH IN THE GUTTER , THIS IS WHAT YOU GET ,AND YOU SUFFER , PLEASE DO SORT OUT YOUR PROBLEM YOURSELF , AND STOP DISTURBING GOD.

GOD CAN NOT DO EVERYTHING FOR YOU.

GOD HAS MADE ALL THINGS. EXCEPT WHAT YOU HAVE CREATED YOURSELF.
SO THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE CREATED YOURSELF BY THROWING YOUR RUBISH INTO THE GUTTER

AND THE RUBISH END UP BLOCKING THE WAY FOR THE FLOOD TO FLOW AWAY.
GET ON WITH IT AND NEXT TIME YOU WILL KNOW THE RIGHT THING TO DO, AS NOT TO CAUSE MORE FLOOD.

STOP THROWING YOUR RUBISH INTO THE GUTTER FROM TODAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

    PLEASE STOP NOW

My sincere condolence to the family of those who have lost their love ones in this tragic incident. Folks this incident has forced me to mention some certain things that we ignore which may tend to cause catastrophe. We need to take care of our waterways and how we control our Stormwater. We need a new technology that can channel our Stormwater (Omi Ojo) to the main creek water. Not only that, we also need to do some maintenance on them. Our Government need to spend some money on our drainage system so that whenever there is rainfall, 30 minutes after, you wouldn’t see any water in the street and some people must be hired to maintain and cleaning the system. That is why in most of advance Countries whenever there is heavy rainfall in less than an hour all the water is gone. This can prevent the flood disaster like the one that occurred in Ghana. Also some cities around flood plain area such as Lagos, port harourt especially Lagos has to prepare against Tsunami. It is not only by throwing trash inside the drainage area but how we channel our drainage structure so that it can effectively discharge Stormwater to the Water creek. Also we need to start bulding a new Septic system which can prevent our urine and waste percolate through our drinking water. Most of our people think these do not matter but trust me, if we fail to build proper structure for these system we may end up experiencing an outbreak such as Typhoid or Cholera. Pipe water around densely populated area like (Eko) lagos island is not really good for human consumption because most of our wastes have infiltrated through the underground water. Remember, Number 1 causes of Typhoid fever is contaminated water. For those people who are still doubting about how they get typhoid, you need to check the kind of water you are drinking but with a new responsible government in charge,we may prevent a lot of epidemic by maintaining our water.

Every country must prepare for climate change, this is nothing compared to what happened in America last week.
