The peaceful and serene atmosphere of the city of Offa was Wednesday when robbers stormed the premises of three banks, leaving two persons dead.
Eye witness reports stated that the incident occurred at about 12.45 p.m. when the dare devil robbers stormed the banks, shooting sporadically into the air to scare people just as passersby ran for their lives, leaving several injured.
The robbery gang numbering about 10 had hijacked an inter state commuter bus belonging to an Onitsha-bound commuter fleet that started its journey from Lagos.
Our source revealed that men of the Nigerian Police in Offa exchanged of gun fire with the robbers who abandoned one of their vehicles at Olalomi Hospital area of Offa.
Several rounds of ammunition were recovered with live cartridges.
The State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Dabo Ezekiel, ASP, confirmed the incident but said no arrest has been made.
