The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mr. Nnamdi Kanu has described his continued detention by the FG as an act of persecution.
Kanu said he only asks for fair trial and not persecution.
Here is a statement Kanu released through his lawyer:
“On December 29, 2015, during the Presidential Media Chat, the president told the whole world that Nnamdi Kanu cannot be granted bail, alleging that he came into the country without a valid travelling passport. This pronouncement was roundly condemned by both local and international commentators. His pronouncement was viewed as a clear usurpation of the functions and powers of the judiciary. “Though very regrettable and extremely unfortunate, Nnamdi Kanu was refused bail on 29 January, 2016. In refusing him and other defendants bail, the court also cited the facts of his possession of dual passports as a flight risk, and as such held that he cannot be granted bail.” The development, Ejiofor insisted, “was in keeping with the pronouncement of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in his media chat telecast live on December 29, 2015. It is a case of a witch crying in the night and a baby dying in the morning…”

Kanu Nnamdi is nobody but a smart criminal who is preying on those uninformed Igbos cajoling them to donate their hard earned money to him to maintain his lavish lifestyle. I strongly recommend SSS and the federal judge that he should remain in maximum prison for instigating one tribe against another in a violence way, for promoting chaos, civil unrest, and tribalism on his illegal radio Biafra. This is a guy who never for once had any decent job in Nigeria or England aside from promoting tribal conflicts as a way of making earns mean. Is a total disgrace for any reasonable Ndigbo to called this fool, criminal,and jobless 419s their leader; God forbid, is like Yorubas calling Gani Adam their leader, or the Ijaws calling Dokunbo Asari their leader. Various Nigerian Security agencies have more than enough evidence to put this guy in prison for at least ten years for entering Nigeria illegally with fake passport and documents to promote terrorism, to cause civil unrest, tribalism, and division among various Nigerian factions. He has his family living peacefully in a Colonial Master Nation of Britain and sneak to Naija to cause trouble in our own nation. He is reaping from the seeds of hatred he has planted over the illegal Biafran Radio. Majority of Ndiigbo are not on board with Kanu Nnamdi senseless campaign of hate, dubious act to enrich himself with money from his dumb supporters, and for promoting tribalism in a very ebillions way. Afterall, nobody is holding the Ndigbo back from relocating back to Southeast region. But every Nigerian should be free to reside and prosper any where they choose to live in Nigeria. Shame on you Kanu Nnamdi!

If Kanu was a fraud, if he was merely seeking to enrich himself, he would have been lying low a long time now. Uwazurike tried to champion the cause. But the Nigerian govt shoved a lump of Ghana Must Go bags into his mouth and he could not talk again.
And so it is a very prepostrous assumption that Mr Kanu is seeking to enrich himself because such offers has been made to him which he bluntly turned down. The emancipation of Biafra is the only fire that burns his heart.
He was once granted bail but the conditions were not favourable to him, and so he REFUSED to be bailed. A bail that mentally shackles your freedom is worse than physical confinement.

Omokehinde you have no right to call him a criminal. Has he ever hurt you or stolen from you? why crucifying him because of sentiment. Igbos are being marginalized and he was bold enough to ask for secession on that ground and that makes him a hero. yeah HERO! Is he worst than Amaechi? Anyone who supports evil will definitely be swallowed by it one day. What has Buhari done since being elected into office? He is definitely on revenge mission and its quite obvious. If you know the meaning of democracy, you will agree that Nigeria is far from democracy. We are in autocracy.

Hello my lady, you have said it all. However, you disagreed with me just because of your emotions, and not based on facts or reasons. Why? I will be a wicked person if I only write or comment based on my hatred or love for one tribe or the other. You agreed with me that since the last Biafra war that led to untimely death of millions of innocent Igbos, that the Ndigbo have made great progress, and economic investment in other sections of Nigeria apart from the Southeast region. So why is one jobless Londoner trying to set us back to pre-Biafran era by instigating one tribe against another? Another point worth noting here is that, when the Biafran war got really ugly and bloody, Col.Chukemaka Ojukwu left the Igbos alone and ran to another country with his entire family. At the end of the war, no single member of Ojukwu families dead in the Biafra struggle. Now Kanu is doing the same thing by trying to stir up another war by propagating pure lies and falsehood on his illegal radio Biafra to some uninformed Igbos, telling them to take up arms to fight the federal government. You know what will happen as as the war began, Kanu will run back to stay with his family in England, leaving millions of peace loving Nigerian people in chaos, civil unrest, and even war. As far as I’m concerns, I have only Nigeria as my dwelling place. You also talked about the marginalizati of Igbos, in what regards my sister? I want to tell you that the hard working and industrious Ndigbo have benefited from economic growth and prosperity of this nation than any tribe since the independent in trade, small businesses, aND importation. The Igbos sell their goods to all Nigerians, and just Igbos. Also, far before any Yoruba man, Igbo was the first president of this nation called Nigeria. Far before any Yoruba, Igbo was the first Head of State of Nigeria. But with our young democracy, Igbo man has far better chance of being elected president of Nigeria by overwelmng majority of our people. But Kanu Nnamdi and those agitating for Biafra will jopadize that chance by promoting tribalism, division, distrust, and hatred. My lady, I believe with my whole heart that all men are created equal by God Almighty to pursue our happiness, live with each other in love and peace, but Kanu is the opposite of all these elements. I think when those young Igbos work together with other Nigerian youths regardless of their tribes, culture, and language, we are going to have a stable, developed, peaceful, and prosperous nation. If an Ijaw man can be voted in as president by the Yorubas, Igbos, and Hausa/Fulani, an Igbo president is coming soon. But Kanu Nnamdi and those unnecessary agitation for Biafra will not allow that to happen very soon. Why? In democracy, a president needs more than the votes of his own people, but he needs the votes of overwelmng majority of Nigerians from all religious, tribes, culture, and language. Obasanjo lost the Yorubas vote twice, but the Igbos, Ijaws, and Hausa/Fulani gave him the edge. I have zero or no hatred for Igbos, Infact, I have many Igbos with great and sound minds as close friends.
