August 18, 2016 – Catholic Church Member Arrested For Stealing N214,00 From Tithe Box Shortly After Service At St Patrick Catholic Church On Lagos Island
About 2pm on Sunday the 14th of August 2016, a Catholic faithful identified as Elochukwu Nnoruga was caught while allegedly stealing N214,000 from the tithe box shortly after service at St Patrick Catholic Church, Idumaigbo Lagos.
The 23-year-old suspect with no fixed address appeared before a Magistrates’ court in Lagos on Wednesday.
He is to return to court on August 23 for facts and sentencing.

No wonder many people look at churches this days as business centers and not originally what is meant to be,a place of worship and of prayer. This corrupt practices and mismanagement of churches fund is not uncommon among some religious leaders. Anyone caught with this dubious act should be punished according to the law of the country after which such person should be excommunicated or disfellowshiped from the church in order to not only sanitize the church but also to serve as a warning lesson to other potential looters.

Well, people have different motives for going to church. I have said it once, and I say again that tithes collected should be kept in secure place.personally, I only drop tithe offering when same is called for openly during church service. I never drop my tithe in the tithe box when the box is just placed there in church, because I don’t like stories such as this.
Fancy someone or some persons with grateful heart and expectant hope dropping his tithe in the tithe box only to be told that a common thief took possession of same. It for paaaaaiiiiiinnnnn me o . As for the tiff in this story, left to me he should be booed and let go. No matter how shameless he is, the sniggering and “behind the hand whispers ,the hand pointings and the push-mouths he will suffer from fellow parishioners henceforth will be punishment enough if he goes back to that church.

IF THE bible says that refusal to pay tithe is robbing God, I wonder what the man who steals tithe would then be called.
