Several people died in the industrial town of Nnewi in Anambra state yesterday after an explosion rocked the Inter Corp Oil (LPG) gas plant, a subsidiary of Chikason Group.

According to eyewitnesses, the fire started around 11am when a truck discharging its contents caught fire.

Burnt bodies of victims of the explosion littered the scene of the incident as the injured were taken to Nnamdi Azikwe University Teaching Hospital, NAUTH in Nnewi.
