May 16, 2016 – Death Toll Of Cross River Heavy Rainstorm At 8: Tragedy As Flood Destroys Over 300 Houses In Bansan, Irruan In Boki LGA 

The heavy rainstorm that hit Boko LGA of Cross River on Saturday has claimed over 8 lives.

According to the latest information coming from the state, the rainfall that started around 3pm on Saturday the 14th of May 2016 ended around 7pm.

The heavy rain swept away over 300 houses in Irruan and Bansan communities, killing a 19-year-old girl instantly.

More corpses were discovered in the area earlier today.

72 houses were swept away by flood in Bansan while over 228 houses were permanently damaged in Irruan.

Governor Ayade has promised to send relief materials to the affected communities.

  1. The state ministry of works and housing must get to work quickly, get all the pot belle engineers go to the area and map out how modern water way will be constructed. This is not the time to ask God what happened, but quick preventive measures will minimize such catastrophe in the future.
