Nov 13, 2013 – Dr. Festus Iyayi Is Dead: Former ASUU President Killed In Car Accident

In a bid to end the 4-month old strike, former President of Academic Staff Union of Universities, Dr Festus Iyayi has died.

He met his untimely death yesterday in a fatal car accident involving Kogi State Governor’s convoy while traveling to Kano for a meeting scheduled for today, Wednesday November 13, 2013.

Late Festus Iyayi was an activist and a political writer in his lifetime.

According to sources, he met with President Jonathan in Abuja last week to suggest ways of ending the strike. He died while trying to work with lecturers to put an end to the prolonged strike.

So sad! May his soul find eternal rest.
