September 19, 2016 – IPOB Declares Friday September 23 Biafra’s Public Holiday, Orders Igbos To Stay At Home

A Pro-Biafra group has ordered all Ndigbo to set this coming Friday the 23rd of September aside as a special day to protest the continued detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement released by the group in Awka yesterday, the group urged the Igbo people who believe in the Biafra ideology to shut down their businesses and stay at home on Friday.

biafra public holiday friday

The statement reads;

“The IPOB worldwide protest will take place in all the countries across the globe, except in Biafra land and Nigeria where church services will be held.”

“Every IPOB member and other Biafrans living in Nigeria and Biafra land will stay in their homes on that day.

“We also ask that all markets, schools, banks, transport companies and manufacturing companies to close on that day in solidarity with the overall objectives of the Biafran restoration process, irrespective of your persuasion or affiliation.

“We call on Okada riders, Keke drivers, bus drivers, owners of luxurious buses and drivers, the 911 drivers and owners, the National Union of Road Transport Workers and National Association of Transport Owners to withdraw their vehicles from roads on that day in solidarity with IPOB worldwide for the release of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and for the total liberation of the Biafra people.

“We also advise every Biafran to switch off their communication devices, especially mobile phones, on that day from 8am to 4pm in solidarity.

“This will let the world know including communication companies that Biafrans are serious towards the release of our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, and the restoration of the ancient and sacred sovereignty of God’s nation, Biafra.”

“Only IPOB members in Biafra land and Nigeria are exempted from street protests on this occasion”, noting that, “Any country where there are IPOB family units that doesn’t participate in this global event will be shut down.”

Nigeria is already divided then. Whenever there‘s the consistency of the fire of purpose, whatever is conceivable is achievable.

What an unrealistic call! A pro-Biafra group calling all Igbos to shut down their businesses and stay home to protest continuing detention of Kanu Nnamdi. This will be a good day for other non-Igbo business owners to make good money because the Ndigbo have dominated Nigerian trade and other small businesses for too long. Asking them to stay home for one day is a good thing, but one month would have been preferable. If the business minded Ndigbo people all over Nigeria can honor this stay home call, this group will be the most powerful ethnic group in Nigeria ever. But they should please change the stay home protest for at least one week in order to send a powerful signal and warning to PMB admistration. I will be WAITING for the outcome of this protest on September 23, 2016 here in Lagos, Nigeria. Igbo Kwenu!!!

Is there a group of people on the atlas of Africa(Nigeria to be precise) bearing and exuding special grace ( both positively and negatively)? The answer to that mind-tugging question is in the affirmative (yes). Who are these people that are so permeating & penetrative more than the manner alcohol permeates body tissues(esp brain) ? I guess the by now, the birds of the AIR are set to help me sing a sonorous song with the name of this tribe. Are these people exceedingly blessed ? I better leave the question to the Raven ( God’s smart messenger. Ask Noah & Elijah) to answer.

    Oh! I’m sorry, just musing.

IPOB, may you live to see your promised Land_ Biafra. Your priceless sacrifice thus far for the liberation of Biafra land will never go unrewarded . I have got a lot to air( apologies for the medium used) on this struggle but, for want of time and space, permit me to direct my searchlight on the matter of the declared pub holiday(23rd Sept).

May I plead with the KEY figures in IPOB to incorporate a true PROPHET OR PROPHETS into the inner circle of her Apex executive. I say so because, your choice of date to make a profound statement to the world informs me that you LACK an intermediary BTW you and God.

Just take a look at this known fact ……Sept 23rd— Pope Francis visits USA(old world power visits current world power), Sept 23rd is the 266th day of 2016, Pope Francis is the 266th Pope. Obviously, sth very strange(Evil) is about to be introduced into the world.

How come you want to associate Biafra with evil(Apocalypse) ?

If you ask me , I would say this move is devoid of God’s backing. If it’s devoid of God’s approval, then, anything (untoward) can happen on that day. If anything untoward happens, the people behind this step will be held responsible before God.

@OMOKEHINDE, I DOUBT if you realize what you’re saying. Or maybe you had sensed, just like I have—I admit—that this protest will not work out as planned, for I perceive that many people would still go to work on that day, especially government workers, or risk booting.

BUT IF THIS CALL IS heeded to as much as even 70%, believe you me, Nigeria would crawl on her knees. Igbos are the business soul of this country—a thing you don’t have to deny. A sit-at-home like this would see Nigeria losing billions of Naira. Imagine, then, if it is extended to a week!

THE ONLY DOWN SIDE IS that many people may not fully comply with the directive.

How are you Metu Nyetu? The problem with some Nigerians or group is the unholy superiority complex by thinking or imagining that life will seize to exist without your group or tribe. That is a wrong notion that doesn’t make any sense in the 21st century. If all the Igbos in Nigeria comply with that stay home protest on September 23, 2016 has IPOB had suggested, life will continue peacefully in the Southwest, Southsouth, and northern regions without any issues. But I have no idea if the Southeast region will be greatly affected by such protest. Do You want to know why? The Ndigbo doesn’t have total monopoly over all the trade and petty businesses in those mentioned regions. Infact, there is nothing the Igbos sell or deal with that thousands of Yorubas, Hausa/Fulani, and other groups that are not selling or fully involved in. But majority of Igbos or Biafran people have enjoyed previleges to sell and make good money by selling their products in almost all cities of every state in Nigeria. But with or without them in non-Igbo states and regions life will definitely continues and the world will not come to an end. The fact is that they will lose so much money by obeying such dumb call to switch off all their electric gadgets and stay home to punish themselves. I strongly believe that we are better and stronger together as Nigerian people living peacefully in one nation, but that doesn’t give any tribe super power other hundreds of other tribes in Nigeria. I know for fact that the Southwest region will greatly prosper more just like it was-Western region before the independent of 1960 if we are left alone.

@OMOKEHINDE, THANKS FOR ASKING about my wellness. I hope you’re doing great, too. May God forbid that I would come here to boast about tribal superiority. There ain’t no thing as such. The only message that my submission meant to convey is the dominance of the Igbos in several businesses across the country. If the whole Igbos would agree to sit down at home, they would lose huge for certain, but the nation would feel the pinch to the very same degree, or even more. Other tribes may swing into action to make up. But it won’t be like magic. What you do not know, you don’t; what you are not into, you will not find it easy to adjust to. You would have to pay your dues to learn them. This process of paying dues would result in a down time for the economy of the nation. Hence I am not wrong in what I said. In fact, every major tribe in Nigeria that shuts down business for a whole day would have a bad report on the economy. It doesn’t matter if other tribes could do what they do.

Thank you so much for your polite response Metu Nyetu, I fully concur to your explanation. However, New generation of Nigerians can forsake the animosity, differences, division and tribal sentiments of the past and aging generation for greater and prosperous Nigeria. This will be a collective responsiblity of all Nigerians from every tribe, religion, culture, and language. Together, we can all build a new nation with equal opportunities, honor, and dignity for all our people just like in all great nations of the world. We must all fight corruption, tribalism, mismanagement, looting, and embezzlement from all levels of government. I also read every of your comments on this platform. May God Almighty bless, protect, and grant you wisdom from above. Once again, thank you for your wise comment.
