The first civilian governor of Oyo State, Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke is dead.

He passed away in the wee hours of today at Bikets Medical Hospital in Osogbo where he was rushed to around 6am after complaining of serious stomach ache.

The death of the 62-year-old senator came less than 24 hours after attending a function at Kuta in Ile Ogbo in the Ayedire LGA of Osun state.

His death sparked outrage as youths alleged that he was poisoned at one of the functions he attended hours to his death.

A family insider told The Nation yesterday that the Ede-born Senator asked his aides to get his younger sister Dupe when his condition became serious in the early hours of today.

His domestic staff said he came in around 2am and retired to bed immediately without asking for food.

The aide further explained that his boss had a busy weekend as he attended a wedding ceremony in Iwo and a burial in Guta on Saturday.

His doctor was invited in the wee hours of Saturday when the stomach ache developed into severe body ache and leg pain.

His doctor reportedly gave him an injection before leaving. He was later called back when his case became life threatening.

At his Ede country home, family members, friends and political mentees were in tears.

His body was brought home from Bikets Hospital at exactly 1pm yesterday in a seated position in a wine Toyota Sienna bus.

On the instruction of his younger brother, Davido’s father Dr Deji Adeleke, late Isiaka Adeleke’s body was returned to Bikets hospital for an autopsy.

The body was later removed from Bikets hospital late last night where it was taken to Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital in Osogbo.

Adeleke who defected to the APC party in 2015 was contesting for governorship seat before his suspicious death.
