Man Arrested For Exhuming Human Skulls From Graves In Ipokia Ogun State

In a disturbing incident that highlights the extent of the prevalence of ritualistic practices in Nigeria, a man has been arrested for allegedly exhuming human skulls from graves in Ipokia area of Ogun State. The suspect, Gbesemehan Dewanu Solomon, was arrested on Tuesday night in Idologun after residents caught him in the act of digging a grave.

This comes after eyewitnesses reported that unknown ritualists had been invading the ancient town of Ipokia to dig graves for skulls, causing residents to lament that over 50 skulls had been removed from graves. In response, community leaders have been taking matters into their own hands to get the culprits arrested.

According to the Onipokia of Ipokia, Oba Yisa Olaniyan, Solomon was apprehended with a skull in his bag and his digging tools. The traditional ruler confirmed that human skulls were also recovered from the suspect’s house when it was searched by the police.

Solomon has been handed over to the police and is currently being interrogated. The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, promised to provide further updates on the incident.

The discovery has sparked outrage and concern among residents, with many calling on the police to do everything necessary to bring to justice all those involved in the act, including those buying the skulls from the suspects. The Onipokia of Ipokia also stressed the need to get to the root of the matter and ensure that all those involved face the law, no matter who they are.

This incident once again highlights the urgent need for the Nigerian government to take action to combat the prevalence of ritualistic practices, which continue to endanger the lives and well-being of its citizens. It is hoped that this arrest will serve as a warning to others engaging in such heinous acts and encourage the police to take a more proactive approach in addressing the issue.
