Nigerian Pastor Arrested For Preaching With AK47 Rifle Is Ignorant!
Uche Aigbe, Nigerian Pastor Arrested For Preaching With AK47 Gun At Abuja Church Is Ignorant
A pastor by the name of Uche Aigbe, who serves as the resident pastor of House on The Rock Church in Abuja, used an AK 47 rifle while preaching to emphasize the importance of using spiritual weapons in the fight against evil. However, the display was seen by many as a misguided and dangerous act of religious zealotry. The video of the incident quickly spread online, causing public concern. As a result, the police took action and the pastor, the church’s Chief Security Officer, and the officer who gave the pastor the firearm have been detained.
The incident involving Pastor Uche Aigbe highlights the state of education in Nigeria. It is concerning that the pastor, who is assumed to be a university graduate, appeared to be unaware of the regulations pertaining to firearms in Nigeria. This raises questions about the standard of education and knowledge dissemination in the country.
Let us assume that the pastor doesn’t know, does the CSO (who most times are retired servicemen) not also know? Is there no one in the church who knows and could have pointed this out to him or were they all ignorant about it? Did they know but were so much in awe of him and were cowardly to point it out to him?.
Everyone is susceptible to making mistakes in life. However, if someone had the courage to bring the mistake Pastor Uche Aigbe’s attention and they took the necessary steps to rectify the situation, the viral video and resulting troubles could have been avoided.
My censure is directed towards several parties in this matter. The pastor, the church leadership, the church’s Chief Security Officer, the officer who provided the rifle, and the congregation members who witnessed the incident without intervening are all responsible for their roles in the situation.
President Muhammadu Buhari recently issued a directive to security agencies to apprehend and shoot individuals in possession of AK 47 rifles. It is unclear whether those involved in the incident were aware of this order, but it is important to note that ignorance is not a defense in legal proceedings.
