December 29, 2017 – Nigerian Soldier Leads Robbery Gang That Hijacks Fuel Tanker In Akobo Ibadan After Kidnapping Driver And Conductor

The Oyo State Police Command operatives have arrested a serving soldier for hijacking a fuel tanker near General Gas (Off Akobo-Iwo road) in Ibadan.

This was disclosed to newsmen at the Police Command Headquarter in Eleyele Ibadan today.

Oyo state Police Commissioner, Abiodun Odunde said a soldier serving at 81 Battalion in Mokola Ibadan and 3 members of his gang were arrested on the 11th of November 2017 for hijacking a fuel tanker carrying 40,000 litre of truck around 9:30pm after kidnapping the driver and his conductor.

The gang led by the unidentified soldier reportedly abandoned their victims at Omi Adio area of Ibadan after robbing them of their money and valuables and thereafter drove the truck to Akure/Ilesa road .

The alarm raised by the victims attracted some members of Omi Adio community who alerted the police that led to the arrest of the robbery gang members.
