August 21, 2011 – The Chairman of the Nigeria Licenced Customs Agents (ANCLA) Seme Chapter, Patrick Ozobialu has been suspended indefinitely over alleged indiscretion and constitutional violation. This was disclosed by the national secretary of the body, Dr Okpara Ogu, on Saturday.
The decision to suspend Ozobialu was taken at a joint meeting of the National Executive Committee, Board of Trustees, Chapter Executive and Elders in the Western Zone of the association.
Ogu also disclosed that the meeting ordered the dissolution of the Seme Chapter Task Force, constituted by the former chairman.
Reacting to his suspension, Ozobialu attributed his removal to a disagreement over the construction of the association’s secretariat saying, “They said I did not complete the secretariat of the association at Seme but I wonder what my predecessors achieved in that regard.”
He described the allegations of failure to redeem the financial obligations of the chapter and running a one-man show as baseless.
He pledged to remain calm and loyal to the association until the issue was resolved by the national headquarters of ANCLA.
Ozobialu’s vice, Chris Nnabogu, would in the meantime act as chairman (Daily Times)
