10 suspected members of the Aiye cult have been arrested for spearheading violent attacks on residents, motorists and traders at Mowe in Ofada-Mokolokin LGA of Ogun state.

On Monday night, about 30 suspected cultists, believed by members of the Aiye Confraternity, invaded some streets at Mowe and inflicted machete cuts on some residents and traders.

They also robbed residents of their money and vandalised over 20 vehicles parked on the road. On Tuesday night, the entire Mowe market was like a grave yard as fear of fresh attacks forced traders and pedestrians to go home early.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, disclosed yesterday that 10 of the suspects had been arrested.

Oyeyemi added that the included a female member of the gang in whose house the suspects held meetings prior to the attack.

  1. These guys should be treated like kidnappers, armed robbers and murderers. Since they have refused to be productive then they should be given back to mother earth to yield better crops for consumption. Keeping them in prison is a waste of time and resources. They should be wasted as they must have killed innocent people in the past.
