Abiodun Fagbore,a self-acclaimed Omo Onile (Land Grabber)  in Lagos has been arrested by the police for possessing SIM card of a man killed by robbers.

This is what Lagos CP, Owoseni said about the suspect last Friday:

“This is a case of murder. On November 20, 2015, one Mr Wale Olawunmi of 17 Adebisi Nagana Street, Ikotun, Lagos reported through a petition that on October 21, his brother named David Olatunji Olawunmi, a staff of MTN Communication who left his house in Goshen Estate Redeemed Camp Mowe, around 5:30am to join their staff bus at Mowe Tipper Garage, was robbed and stabbed to death by unknown hoodlums.”

“Based on the analysis conducted on the activation of the victim’s phones, one of the phone numbers – 07035921551 – was found to have been used on October 22, 2015.

“It was further revealed that the said phone number was registered by one Biodun Fagbore. He was consequently arrested and on interrogation, he admitted being the owner of the said SIM card and claimed to have bought the said phone but could not produce the source.

“He also claimed to have given the phone with SIM card to one of his boys whom he could not produce; obviously the circumstantial evidence has linked him up with the complicity.

His body, he said, was recovered at Tipper garage without his phones.

Fagbore said: “I bought SIM for people. I did not know that they can commit offence with SIM cards. I don’t even charge them a dime. The one that brought problem was the one I gave to an Okada rider who rides motorcycle for me, so that he can call me in case police disturb him. I registered five SIM with my name at Mowe. I did not know that problem will come.”

I don’t get it. Is it that you can actually pick another person’s SIM card and register it in your own name? Or is it possible that MTN had recycled the line and he bought it?

yes it is. i forgot my sim card pin and i have misplaced the sim pack some few years back and i just said let me try the line and it ranged which an hausa man picked up despite the sim card was still with me. MTN recycled it, i guess they did the same to the deceased line also.

@Law, if so be the case, then the police should release this guy. He may be a very bad boy, but as far as this crime is concerned, I don’t think he is guilty. Let the police do their investigations properly.

If the man was killed on 21oct and the sim was used on 22oct the same year how come he registered the line with MTN so soon. i hope MTN themselves knows what they are doing.
