A South Africa-based Evangelist has been arrested for attempting to export 165kilograms of narcotic drugs to South Africa in two container seized at Apapa Seaport terminal.
The methamphetamine and ephedrine drugs were detected by NDLEA sniffing dogs inside packs of foodstuff and cosmetics.
NDLEA officers successfully traced the illicit drug kept inside containers marked MSKU 388274-1 and MSKU 424717-0 to 52-year-old Evangelist John Vincent Arinze in his hotel room in Ikeja. A brand new Mercedes Benz Jeep was seized from the suspect at the time of his arrest.
The suspect who hailed from Ara village in Nise area of Awka said he took over the drug trafficking business from his late wife.
Here is his confessional statement:
“I am an evangelist living in Durban South Africa. My late wife was into drug trafficking before she died a few years ago. I made a mistake venturing into her business. It is all my fault,”.
NDLEA said Evangelist John Arinze will soon be charged to court.

Yes o, @ RAPO, and the dogs are strategically positioned at the final exit point before you board the aircraft or other vehicle you arentravelling in. That way there is no escape because moving forward means an encounter with the mighty dog whereas running back in the direction you come from is also a dead giveaway that one is in possession of some contraband. Smart move indeed!!!
