What happened to forgiveness ? He was in church; he stole; he got caught; I assume the phone was found . Why call the police ? Let he who has no sin cast the first stone. I am not condoning what he did but the church failed this man and I don’t think Jesus will be impressed. It’s a missed oppportunity to extend the hand of love, acceptance and forgiveness. I hope the iPhone owner is proud of this great achievement. It’s just a phone for goodness sake ! I’ll stop now…..

Do not steal is one of God’s commandments so forgiveness is at discretion of the owner. Many people go to church with their different individual agenda…including stealing handbags and phones. If personal items are not safe in church then it is unfortunate indeed. That is why I said once before and say again that carrying “senior phone” to church is tempting your neighbour . Oftentimes there is someone in the congregation eager enough to yield to temptation, to forget God’ s commandment and the environment he is in just to steal the phone!

Ummm, I have to preach now . Forgiveness is not at the discretion of the owner although this is what most of us think. God expects us to forgive ; period . Now we have a choice in that God never imposes His will on us. We use our so called discretion and often we choose, that’s right, choose not to forgive. This is why the world is the way it is ; so much hatred, pain , bitterness and unforgiveness ????; we are all on our high horses; making choices , making decisions and thinking we are better than everybody else . I pray for me and the world – so that we can choose to forgive no matter what . Life and all worldly things, including iPhones will fade away but God is forever. Is there someone out there who is still hurting because someone upset you, stole from you, lied about you or was not there when you needed them the most ? Forgive now and God will help you forget. Wherever and whenever it’s within your power, overwhelm them with love. Easier said ……. but

I’m sure you’d describe yourself as a Christian, and you leave this type of comment? Ha ha. (Claps hands) #WEHDONE

Dee… The bible encourages us to obey the laws of the land. Forgiving him does not preclude him from facing the consequences of his actions. So if a man kills in church is he to be forgiven too?

Righteousness will not get anybody to heaven neither will judging others. Murder is different from theft -obviously. We know how to justify our arguments when it suits us. Let’s all pray that we find mercy on a day when we need it. We have all done bad things and you will be lying if u say otherwise. I don’t condone what he did – obviously. My point is – If you can’t temper justice with mercy in church, there’s no hope for this world .
I’m done . No further comment from me on this issue. Over and out ????
    God bless Naija

If he stole from church premises why is he been beaten up? Are they not supposed to understand the principles of Christianity 1)Forgiveness 2)Charity 3)Compassion? Nigerians never cease to amaze me.

They should even rehabilitate him, give him a job and forgive and let it go.
