Temitope Awosika, Osun State’s Governor of Celestial Performing Artistes Association of Nigeria, detailed the events leading to the artist’s untimely demise. According to Awosika, the incident occurred at a Celestial church concert in the Obalende area of Osogbo. It was in the early hours of Saturday when Tola King, while performing alongside his colleagues, suddenly fell ill.

The situation unfolded rapidly. Tola King had just finished his performance and handed the microphone to Evangelist Femi, another performer. Shortly thereafter, he experienced distress, which Femi noticed as Tola King held onto him from behind. His breathing became labored, prompting immediate attention from those present at the concert.

Efforts were made to stabilize him within the church premises. However, as his condition worsened, the decision was made to transport him to a nearby hospital in Osogbo. The medical team there quickly assessed his condition and referred him to a more equipped facility in Ile-Ife for further treatment.

Despite the swift medical response and the care provided at the hospital in Ile-Ife, Tola King’s condition continued to deteriorate. “Around 1:30 pm on Saturday, there was no sign of improvement. Tragically, by 2 pm, he passed away,” Awosika recounted. He clarified that contrary to some reports, Tola King did not slump in the church but was consciously moved from the church to the hospital after he took ill.

The news of Tola King’s death has sent shockwaves through the artist community in Osun State. Known for his talent and dedication to the performing arts, his sudden departure has left a void in the hearts of colleagues, fans, and family members. His contributions to the arts and the lives he touched through his performances will be remembered fondly.
