May 30, 2013 – 18 Students Killed In Bayelsa State Commercial Bus Accident On Democracy Day

Wednesday was a sad day for the family members of 18 students who died tragically in a fatal bus accident in Bayelsa State.

An 18-seater commercial bus collided with another bus in an attempt made by the driver to overtake an oncoming bus.

The buses with plate #  Rivers KNM 141 SA and Rivers SP 269 KPR were involved in the head on collision that resulted in the instant death of 18 innocent students.

The bus accident happened around 8pm at night on Amassoma Road in Ijaw Local Government area of Bayelsa state.

The corpses of the deceased have been deposited to Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital in Okolobiri.

The 11 injured victims are now receiving medical treatments at a private hospital in Bayelsa state’ capital city of Yenagoa.
