dele odule dangers social media

Veteran Nollywood actor and producer Dele Odule has cautioned Nigerians to be careful with the way they are using the social media as it could destroy a lot of people.

In this chat with Saturday Beat, Odule said the social media should be blamed for the loss of moral values in several parts of Nigeria today.

According to him, the social media has resulted in many losing sense of culture and imbibing all sorts of strange behaviours threatening the sanity of the society.

His words:

“My worry is that a lot of people are not making appropriate use of the social media. In instances that they are supposed to hide their heads, they expose themselves unnecessarily all in the name of posting certain things on the social media.

“People have forgotten our culture; they are indulging in practices that our society ordinarily does not accept all in the name of civilisation and trying to follow trends in the Western world.

“Though the social media will not expose an individual on its own, it is what such persons put out there that will expose and endanger them. This technology and innovation have been abused by a lot of people in Nigeria,” .

  1. It’s very unfortunate….and it seems to be the number one cause of family breakup this days, Nigerians will always be at the wrong side of every news or usage of technology until reasonable people start leading that Nation or it will be disintegrated.

People need to be educated on the implications or the negative effects of all these, many people do not know or understand that once it’s there on the net,it goes www, some are thinking it’s only withing their villages.
