June 3rd, 2013 – Amigo Supermarket Abuja, Wonderland Park Owner, Hezbollah Leader In Nigeria (Fauzi Fawad)  Still On The Run

Security operatives have continued to lay siege on the premises of Amigo Supermarket and Wonderland Amusement Park in Abuja following an alleged link between one of its Lebanese co-owners, Fauzi Fawad, and a terror group.

Last week, officers of Nigeria’s anti-terror agency, the Joint Task Force, recovered a cache of weapons in a depot reportedly owned by a Lebanese businessman. A security source disclosed that three Lebanese men were also arrested after a raid on the depot. The raid was triggered by a tip that there was an underground bunker in the home a Lebanese businessman. Security operatives searched the house as well as other locations in the city.

When Saharareporters visited the premises of Wonderland and Supermarket on Sunday, our correspondent saw a team of heavily armed security operatives. A source told us that the guards include Nigerian army personnel, police officers, and agents of the State Security Service (SSS).

The main entrance of the supermarket was sealed off with chains. An inscription on the entrance announced “SEALED OFF”. Several security vehicles were stationed in front of the facility.

Some customers who were not aware of the development were turned back by the operatives as the roads leading to and from the premises were blocked on both ends.

SaharaReporters learned that the three Lebanese men arrested by the JTF in connection with the illegal ammunition in Kano had named Mr. Fawad as a mastermind of an illegal importation of ammunition. The detained suspects reportedly named Mr. Fawad as a leader of a Hezbollah cell operating in Nigeria.

Among the weapons recovered from a bunker in the house were anti-tank guns, rocket-propelled grenades, and 300 AK 47 rifles.

As at time of filing this report, Mr. Fawad had not been arrested. A security source said he was on the run.

  5. sorry, this story doesn’t pass any kind of smell test. Did they have to get the other “detained suspects” to reportedly implicate the owner of supermarket and children’s yard or miniature golf owner as a member of Hezbollah. Pictures of the ammunition is to so old and rusty it’s practically garbage. Shameful.

  6. Matter-of-factly; seems our government dey dash our citizenship to all these friggin Arabs for nothing, when many of us toil our asses to earn foreign citizenship and now see what they have turned Nigeria to; Hub of terrorism! Soon Nigeria will become like the some parts of The Middle East, I know some people will say “God forbid it”, but if Nigerians don’t wade into this and stop your corrupt government from allowing this people to operate freely (in their countries, blacks are treated like dirts); they will overrun Nigeria; lessons from Sierra Leone and Liberia, Same Lebanese went there; breed and took over their economy, running everything and the indigenous people became boy boy! I’m watching from a distance! Wise up and rise up Nigerians.
