November 27, 2016 – APC Supporters Go Wild As Aketi Takes Back Ondo State From PDP
Excited supporters of the APC took to the streets of Akure this afternoon to celebrate the victory of Mr Rotimi Akeredolu as the governor-elect of Ondo State.
INEC this afternoon formally announced Akeredolu as the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
The victorious APC supporters went round Akure in motorcades comprising commercial motorcycles and buses singing and chanting praises of the APC governor-elect.
Shouts of ‘Aketi’ rent the air at Oja-Oba, Old Garage, Customs area, Ondo Road and other parts of Akure.
The APC supporters sang winner o o o, winner, winner o o o winner, Aketi you don win o, winner.
On sighting the APC supporters, resident trooped out from their houses and joined them to celebrate Akeredolu’s victory.
Some of the APC supporters who spoke expressed happiness that APC was finally able to dislodge Governor Olusegun Mimiko from power.
They expressed their indignation at Mimiko’s inability to pay civil servants in the state six months salary.
Some also described Mimiko as a political prostitute. ”Mimiko is the architect of his own failure. He was moving from one political party to the other.
Majority of us who earlier supported him withdrew our support and the result is what you are seeing today. From Labour Party to PDP and he did not carry majority of us along,” a commercial motorcyclist who gave his name as Gbenga Dare told our reporter.
Another APC supporter, Felicia Omotosho, accused the Mimiko administration of not paying her husband’s salary for six months, adding that this created a lot of hardship for her family.
”I am happy that Akeredolu won. We want change in Ondo State. We don’t want any imposition. Akeredolu, I believe will bring smiles to the people of Ondo State,” she said

In as much as the Ondo state governorship election yesterday was peaceful, fair, and credible, I want to congratulate the governor-elect Akedolu for his election victory. However, the governor-elect should know that expectations of Ondo people and the residents are very high, he should start off by paying the unpaid salaries of all the state workers, reduce the side of government by cutting down the numbers of commissioners and local governments, invest in Agriculture, poultry, fishery, and honey farming. The governor-elect should also improve the security in the state and generates more electricity that will encourage both local and foreign investors to invest in Ondo state. Security, power generation, good infrastructures, and government incentives are tools needed for job creation by investors anywhere in the globe. Once again, congratulations sir for your victory.

Congrats to the elected Governor but my full compliment will be proclaimed when I see him performing. Just like his predecessors, some of them were once in the other side of aisle but as soon as they assume the mantle of power, they will start investing in themselves and their family and forget about those who voted them in.
Leadership position is not only to go there and enjoy yourself because you are a leader. You have a serious job hanging around your neck. You must devise a way to pay workers salary even if you are not going to be paid. A leader has to endure for his people to live a better life that is one of the qualities of a good leader. You have to be planing everyday with your cabinets to make life easier for the Ondo State people.
May God gives you a will to move this state to the next level.
