Feb 5, 2014 – “Asari Dokubo Must Be Arrested Over 2015 War Threat” – APC Tells SSS

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as reckless, irresponsible and totally condemnable the threat by Mujahedeen Asari-Dokubo to levy war against Nigeria if President Goodluck Jonathan is defeated even in a free and fair election in 2015.

In a statement issued in Abuja yesterday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said despite the attacks by oil militants in the Niger Delta and the ongoing insurgency by Boko Haram in some parts of the North, Nigeria had not witnessed a clearer and louder call to war than Asari-Dokubo’s senseless vituperation since the country’s civil war ended in 1970.

It said Nigerians were waiting to see what the SSS, which recently detained for many hours the APC’s Deputy National Secretary, Nasir El-Rufai over his warning against election rigging in 2015, would do now that an ally of President Jonathan had threatened the very existence of Nigeria, by saying he and his fellow militants would cripple the economy of the country not only in the creeks but also in Nigeria’s territorial waters.

‘’What on earth gave Asari-Dokubo the confidence to issue threats against a whole nation? If he does not care about elections and democracy, how else could his hero, President Jonathan, have come to power? Does he know the meaning of anarchy? Does he think anyone, no matter how big, is more important than his country or bigger than its constitution?

‘’When he said President Jonathan ‘must complete the mandatory constitutionally-allowable two terms of eight years’ or the militants will make Nigeria ungovernable, was he aware that even the North that has become his favourite whipping boy did not complete its own eight years before his kinsman became president?

‘’It is not Asari-Dokubo’s fault. When we warned against the handing over of the nation’s maritime security to a company owned by a former militant in 2012, many thought we were crying wolf where none existed. But the threat by a former militant to ensure that no vessel will be allowed to enter the nation’s territorial waters unless President Jonathan is re-elected has shown the dangers inherent in such actions,’’ APC said.

It said Asari-Dokubo has overstretched his luck by trying to dictate to political parties to field only South-South candidates for the presidency in 2015, wondering what gave him the audacity to make such a careless statement.

‘’We in the APC will never be cowed by the senseless, emotional outburst of a man whose sense of decency stretches the size of a coin. We make bold to say that Nigeria will survive and thrive, whether or not some people want it. We reiterate the truism that election is the bedrock of democracy, and that anointing of candidates – as Asari-Dokubo would want Nigeria’s political parties to do – is the very antithesis of democracy,’’ the party said.

It said the SSS must act immediately or be damned.’ “There is no better test of the fairness, non-partisanship and professionalism of the SSS than this Asari-Dokubo’s threat to levy war on his own country. “

If Asari-Dokubo is not above the laws of the land, he must be hauled before the SSS, just like the service did to our deputy national secretary, to explain his statement,’’ APC said.

For 13 years the northerns have been killing innocent people in the name of their so-called boko haram and no one is arresting any body. All we hear is the army arrests 4 boko haram members and so on. How many of them have been brought to book in the real sense of the term. How about their leaders? Would the SSS or EFCC vow they do not know the whereabouts of the boko haram leaders. Or put simply, is the APC unaware of the sponsors of boko-haram. What have you APC done or put forward to stop killing of innocent people. By the way what is their mission? What do they intend to achieve? No one is saying anything. And innocent citizens are dying like animals; many others are fleeing their own fatherland. All you power-hungry-selfish and wicked hooligans know how to say is to arrest Asari. Don’t worry, this country is coming to a drastic change. YOU ALL BETTER REPENT BEFORE YOU GET CAUGHT UP IN THIS MESS OF YOURS…STOP DECEIVING YOURSELVES. THIS IS 2014.

@FAIRNESS or whichever you call your name, you are indeed a big time MUMU. It is high time you learned to be objective in such a sensitive matter. Who is ASARI the nicompop to threat the existence of our dear country? if not with JONATHAN assistance. Mark you no body is stoping JONATHAN to contest but the question is will he ever get the number because democracy is a game of number. May earth consume whoever support ASARI DOKUBO and his threat in JESUS NAME. Amen

@ Yanky thank you. You are taking offense at Asari because you know how his face looks like and probably who he is supporting– Jonathan, right? Put on your objectivity-thinking cap here: who is boko-haram and how do they look like? These guys are non-educated I guess. Where do they get all the sophisticated arms and grenades they have been using for over a decade now? I think you are blaming the wrong person. Truth be told, ASARI “objectively” is not right in the way he uses words sometimes, but it’s only a dead animal that would not react when pushed against the wall. The real problem in Nigeria is cowardice. What have you said since Buhari made his own comments? Let’s join hands and fix this mess! God bless you.

Am not in support of Asari Dokubo’s war declaration if GEJ is defeated in 2015 election, arresting Dokubo will not solve the problem bcos he has been arrested many times, but let all the parties involved caution their followers to hold their mouth and not to cause war even if the lose during the election, they should not allow what happened in the North after GEJ won the election to happen again bcos after the whole thing is only one party that will win. let the parties join hand to stop the killing of innocent people in the North if we claim to be one. let them stop this politics of bitterness. thank you.

Apparently, golubo or psychopath or whatever he’s called is irrelevant. Assuming he wasn’t born as at Biafra era, I presume he might have at least heard about the history either through reading or family narrator. Ojukwu tried it and failed woefully with all the external supports expanded to him. A Nation is bigger than any of her citizens. It is God’s business; He commanded by giving us mandate to pray for the prosperity of our Nation and its leaders irrespective of the circumstance we may have found ourselves. If we wish our country well, we equally wishing ourselves well because we the people, makes-up a Nation. If we fall, togetherness we falls and if we rise togetherness we will rise up. Threatening by means of insecurities and wars has never been a problem solver and would not leads to solution either. We should remember the exemplary hardship associated with wars and economy woes, and of course our neighboring countries who had gone through these process are living testimonies. Instead, we should strive to live in harmony by working out our differences in a civilized manner. Good moral behavior is a civic duty which must be part of our daily lives. The developed Nations equally experiencing political turmoils but they don’t go about threatening the destruction of their National interests and economy. For those who thinks dakubo’s behavior is the right direction it shows you’re feeble minded individuals and the likes whose contributions doesn’t matter in a society. Wishing you good luck with your despicable plans. We’ll see where it would lead you.

so sorry for all of you who is pointing accusing fingers on dokubo, cant you see Nigeria nation is not working out. Northerners have ruled Nigeria for over 38 years and nothing to show for it, all this greedy Northerner politicians are there for their own selfish interest, and since the power have shifted to south, they are not happy, so if you ask me what is the meaning of Nigeria, it is where Government or leadership is one sided. please you guys should live Asari alone. before he will be arrested for his treat, Buhari and his cohorts should be arrested first. For peace to reign, that country should be divided. it is too big to be governed by criminals. besides they are corrupt.

@Ben it is true the Northerners had been in control for so long. But does that gives some people the incentives to insinuates evil against our National interests or economy?. There are many ways to kill a rat without shedding its blood. If Naija should collapse today every of her citizens will feel the pinch no doubt. Yoruba adage says: If Heaven is to cave in, it won’t be on one person’s head alone. We’re all going to bear the brunch together regardless of your place of abode worldwide. There’s no gimmick about it brother. It totally uncivilized for one to supports evil minded people with their evil agenda. Besides nobody is praising Buhari for his comment either. It’s only in Naija people carelessly runs their mouth against the government without being held accountable for their ill talks.
