Concern As Oppressed Nigerians Turn To Suicide To End Their Sufferings

In less than one week, two Nigerians have reportedly committed suicide.

A yet to be identified middle aged man committed suicide on Abuja railway track, as confirmed by eyewitnesses who shared the report.

The incident reportedly occurred today at about 12:45pm, a kilometre away from the Kubwa Railway Station and it was gathered that the man who left a suicide note, was sighted lying down on the rail track waiting for the train, shortly before the train ran over him.

The man who committed suicide on Abuja railway track, left the note in a bag containing some clothes by the side of the railway track and it contained a short message, supposedly to his wife and kid, which reads: “Please forgive me for I do not have funds to take care of you.’’

Last week Thursday , a Unilorin student reportedly committed suicide, after failing his final year project which will drop him lower in his grade.

The Unilorin student who committed suicide by drinking a pesticide, Sniper, has been identified as Adigun Olawale Emmanuel was reportedly forced to repeat his project before his death. The Nation reported that the deceased who had a grade of Second Class Upper Division which dropped to Second Class Lower Division, alleged that he was accused of ‘copy and paste’, in research his works in social media post before his death.

Adigun who became depressed after he failed to make the last graduation list of the institution, reportedly communicated his intention to end his life to a female friend who however pleaded with him to have a rethink and face the challenge like most other men in life.

On Thursday night at Oke-Odo, a student-populated area in Ilorin, Kwara state, he committed suicide. However his corpse was only discovered on Saturday after neighbours noticed a foul smell oozing out of his room. When the door was broken, his bloated body was found on the floor.

From social media interactions, it was gathered that the deceased had uploaded a picture of the Sniper on his WhatsApp page at about 5.14 pm, some two hours after he had lamented online about his situation to his friend.

He had opened the conversation at about 3.39 pm when he said in short statements:

“Same research work. He said I did copy and paste. Ever since then, things changed from bad to worst. Am in a deep mess @the moment. My life don tire me. I feel like dying. I wish I can sleep and not wake up again”.

His friend however responded with words of encouragement:

“Don’t give up bros, it gets better”. And as if he had accepted the admonition, the deceased had then responded, “I pray so, Thanks a lot for your concern. I appreciate a lot. May God continue to bless you. Amen.”

His friend however went further to plead with him not to commit suicide. He wrote;

“Wale abeg, calm down. Abeg You In the Name of God. Nothing Happen wey God no know about ooo please don’t do anything stupid ooooo”.
