Nigeria Records 1st Covid-19 Death As Lagos Confirms 3 New Patients
The NCDC, (Nigeria Centre for Disease Control) today confirmed the first coronavirus death in Nigeria.
The NCDC via its Twitter handle, @NCDCgov, on Monday, said;
“The first #COVID19 death in Nigeria has been recorded. The case was a 67-year-old male who returned home following medical treatment in the United Kingdom.
“He had underlying medical conditions – multiple myeloma and diabetes and was undergoing chemotherapy.”
The centre also announced five new cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria including two in the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja), two in Lagos State and one in Edo State.
It said there are 35 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria but two have been discharged.
In another development, the Lagos State Ministry of Health has confirmed three new cases of COVID-19 pandemic on Monday.
The ministry via its official twitter handle, @LSMOH, said, “Three new #COVID19 cases confirmed in Lagos.
“The first case is a Ukrainian who arrived in Nigeria on March 15 via a vessel.”
“The second case is a United Kingdom-based Nigerian, who arrived in the country in March via BA75.
“Third case a UK-based Nigerian, who arrived Lagos on March 13 via TK625.”
