At least 10 people were killed instantly while several others were left injured when a speeding commercial bus travelling from Onitsha, Anambra State to Lagos State somersaulted at the Alifekide area of Delta State.

Daily Sun gathered that the bus loaded at one of the Onitsha motor parks enroute Lagos before it somersaulted at Ali Ifekide, near Agbor. It was gathered that the passengers were trapped inside the bus until a police patrol team arrived.

The patrol team was said to have forced the door open and rescued some passengers but about 10 persons had already died. As at the time of filing the report the police and other sympathisers had rushed the injured victims to the hospital while the dead bodies were still at the scene of the crash. One of the policemen told Daily Sun that he suspected that the driver was speeding.

A palmwine tapper, who identified himself as Eluemunor said accidents occurred on the express road on a daily basis. He said just at Onitsha- Ugbor near the scene, three persons died last Saturday afternoon when a Toyota Sienna bus also crashed.

He blamed the accident on speeding, saying that the smoothness of the road was deceiving drivers who enjoyed speeding. He said the irony was that on several occasions, the drivers survived the accidents.

Many travellers could not hold back their tears as they saw the bodies of the dead victims especially youngmen at the scene.
