5 students of Conarina Maritime Academy, Abraka, in Ethiope East Local Government of Delta State have been arrested by soldiers of the 222 Battalion, Agbarha-Otor, in Ughelli North Council, for allegedly beating up a student of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka.
The students, Osamaye Theophilus, Emefe Mike, Kingsley Nweke, Bassey Success and Mavis Ogosime were nabbed following a tip-off that they were allegedly clad in an Army camouflage while beating up a 100 level political science student, Dubre Jason.
We learnt that the suspects were invited by their former colleague, who had graduated from the school, to assist him torture Jason and his friends over subletting of an apartment.
The suspects allegedly invaded the hostel and beat up Jason to a pulp without interference, since they wore an Army camouflage.
An Army chief, who confirmed the incident, said the suspects’ arrest showed not all soldiers or anybody in Army camouflage belonged to the 222 Battalion.
He said the suspects would be investigated to find out how they got the camouflage.
