A controversial Italian professor has revealed how a group of medical experts have successfully carried out the first human head transplant surgery in the world.
According to Professor Canavero Sergio, the 18-hour long operation demonstrated that it is possible to reconnect the nerve, spine and blood vessels of a severed head.
The director of Turin Advanced Neuromodulation group who made this announcement in Vienna this morning said a similar surgery will soon be carried out on a live human.
The surgery was led by Dr Xiaoping Ren who in 2016 grafted a head onto the body of a monkey.

Who will the beneficiary of a successful head transplant become? Will he be the person who owned the original transplanted head or how will people who knew the dead person whose head was used for transplant react to the new head owner? Just wondering!
