June 21, 2016 – 2 Men Arrested In Kaduna For Allegedly Raping 6-Year-Old Girl Beg For Forgiveness

Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 2 men who allegedly raped a minor on the 13th of June 2016.

The suspects identified as 67-year-old Yahaya Umar and 30-year-old Muhammed Auwal were arrested after a passerby reported them to the police for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl at Soba street in Tudun Wada area of Kaduna.

Here is what the mother of the victim, Hindatu Mohammed told reporters yesterday:

“After my six years old daughter returned from school, I sent her to buy detergent for me, but she didn’t return early as expected.
“And I was worried and one boy came to my house to inform me that my daughter has been raped and taken to the hospital.

“The police personnel later returned and confirmed that rape actually took place and I was asked to pay N500 for fuel, which I did.
“I am so afraid that she might be infected with HIV and AIDS and I was told that after the doctors investigation that it was discovered that she had been raped earlier by another person.
“And it was our neighbour Muhammed Auwal that my daughter identified and the police had already arrested him, they are both in police custody’’

“We are only using natural herbs to heal her from injuries inflicted on her.
“I am calling on the security agencies to give my daughter justice because people are calling and asking me to forgive them.’’

Kaduna police spokesman Abubakar Zubairu said the suspects would soon be charged to court.
