How Fathia Balogun’s Conversion To Islam Contributed To Her Marital Woes

It is no longer news that over 8 Nollywood actresses have converted to Islam in the past 6 years.

One of such, Fathia Balogun, an Urhobo woman from Warri Delta who was born a Christian converted to Islam and changed her name to Faithia Balogun to qualify to marry her then Muslim boyfriend, Saheed Balogun, the relationship later ended up in disaster.

A source close to the actress in a lengthy email sent to NaijaGists.com this evening explained how the actress changed her name from Faith Williams to Faithia shortly before she married her estranged husband.

The source added that after her marriage crashed, the actress felt comfortable with the honour bestowed to her among her Muslim friends and the prestige her Alhaja title carries.

Her first attempt to give marriage a try to a US-based man failed after the wife of the man threatened to expose her.

On another occasion, the source said Fathia tried to revert to Christianity but her fear of losing numerous titles awarded to her by some Muslim groups caused her to change her mind as she was close to getting married to a Christian childhood friend.
