I’m 30, My Boyfriend Is 62 And Older Than My Parents: How Do I Get My Family To Accept Him

After many heartbreaks from younger men, I’m at a point in my life where I am truly in love and happy. I feel relieved, the quest is over but the only problem is my lover’s age.

My name is Priscilla, friends call me Cece. I am thirty years old and my relationship life had been a very ‘tragic’ one before I met Otunba a divorcee. He is 62 but has the heart of a 30 year old man.

Before I met him, I already told myself there would be no more men, my experiences will make you cringe in sympathy and pity. By sheer will and determination, I managed to survive my last outbreak which almost made me a vegetable!

Otunba changed it all. He showers me with the kind of love and care I never imagined existed. He cooks (not buy) my food, brings lunch to my office, rubs my feet, makes me feel happy and complete!

I am ready to marry him, but my problem is how to introduce him to my parents, especially my father who is just 59! I can picture my mother going on her knees to greet him just to embarrass him and me.

The truth is; I can’t date a young man anymore, they almost broke me.

I stylishly hinted to my mom that one if my friends had just found true love using my case…she looked at me and said “Cece, that is not true love, that is true rubbish” I saw her eyes and knew it would be tough.

Maybe I should just get pregnant and give them no choice. I love Otunba with all my heart and he adores me… His first daughter is a couple of years older than me and she hates me, but I know she would change with time after I convince her I’m not after the money.

Please advice me…yes, when I’m 50, he would be 82… I know that already and it doesn’t matter.

Hello young and naive girl, stop deceiving yourself by saying he has the heart of 30 year old. If the retirement age of Nigerian workers is 60, so what the hell are you talking about? Girl, a lot is wrong with your head, you said the shameless man is even cooking for you and rub your feet to make you complete, so you are incomplete without these shit. You’re fabricating excuses to fluff folks, in fact, undoing yourself, nobody can save your soul but you. All we can do here is to remind of your worldly desire and its consequences, don’t be fooled by the flesh; go and marry within your age group. Lastly, have you considered the other side of this “ lovely care” you’re crazy about? Girl, I hate it when you said his daughter would get used to you; u bi you? You are certainly up to no good, feel free and terminate your presence in this world! Chai! no be something be dis folks!

Dis young girl is under a love spell. To start with, the age difference is totally unacceptable there is no way her parents will accept him.

They might not necessarily be under any spell but the battle will always be against the young lady.
If you feel you can fight and win the battle, go ahead but I can guarantee it will never be an easy one, at the same time, if the baba can stand and fight for your love, afterall, he wont be the first or last to be involved in such, then goodluck to you. As for your parents, you cannot move forward in any relationship without parental consent, so you must ensure they are on board with you, otherwise, back off. They say old men know how to take care of their young wives but I say she who marries an old man buys the coffin. Who knows what the future holds? Dont think getting pregnant and eloping with the baba is a solution, rather, it means solving a problem with another problem. Such pregmancies never bring solutions but complications. Pls, be guarded. Ultimately, your destiny is in your hands.

That is your daddy friend, not boy friend. However, there’s nothing wrong in marrying a man several years older. Women nowadays date and marry boys young enough to be their sons, which is detestable to me personally. Prophet Mohammed married Khadijah who was 15 years older so it is acceptable in Islam. As for those speculating how long he will live, are we God to determine longevity? My friend whom we buried sadly last Saturday was just a year older than his wife. They were high school sweethearts so would she have believed she will be widowed @ 55? Our times are in God’s hands alone. Many times we destroy God’s plan for our children by insisting they cannot marry someone of their choice due to our own ego and selfish purposes or what people will say or think. His daughter will never accept any woman no matter her age as she believes they are coming after her inheritance. Sons have better attitudes and easier to deal with. Seek God’s approval before going ahead with anything. He will direct your steps.
