nigerian woman eating amala train london

Monday April 13, 2015 – Photo: Nigerian Woman Eating Amala On London UK Train Raises Eyebrows

Pictured above is a Nigerian woman who caught the attention of fellow Nigerians and others passengers on a train in London UK recently when she brought out a big bowl of Amala.

Instead of the traditional way of eating amala, the woman used spoon.

It would have been a disaster if she uses hand to chop that Amala.

The madam no send, she’s just enjoying herself.

It is true that people eat on the go here but most Britons find it offensive. They find eating on a bus or train rude as others may not like the smell. Regardless of where you are from or what type of food you ate eating it is empty embarrassing eating this big bowl of small on the train. Forget culture.

Haven travelled around the world and seeing how Indians, Chinese, Egyptians and many other nationalities do share their culture and food with the rest of the world. It will be great if we can emulate such by being proud of our culture. The mentality of this reporter and some of the commenters here actually shows how much low self-esteem we battle with. I guess that is why you find many westerners in Indian and Chinese restaurants but very few even know that African cuisine or restaurants do exist. We need more of these celebration of our heritage to let the world become curious about our amala,tuwo,garri,pkof-pkof,suya etc and not the 419 that they have constantly tagged us with. This goes beyond amala it is about gaining the same self-esteem and confidence that the Japanese and Chinese used to transform their lives and nations.

There’s nothing wrong with what the woman did. Most trains do sell food in their Canteen, u will just buy your choice of meal then relax comfortably on your sit and eat. Sometimes they move about with their trolley canteens just like the way hostesses share food inside plane and sell their food and drinks to passengers. It’s allowed to eat inside train.

Hj, well said…. everybody eats on the trains and buses, so I see no problem with what she’s is doing, am sure she’s on her way to her second job and that’s the only way she can grab a bite….. people who have not travelled out are so jealous it’s a big shame!!!!!

Come on now people, the comments above show lots of ignorance . I have travelled on the london tube for years but there is no way you would see such disregard for others on the train . The white people may eat sandwiches but dont forget they have soups and poridges too , but they would not eat on the train . Its discomforting to others , the smell, the look and if can soil people too. My sister can eat meat pies or sandwich but not this type of food . You cant even do this at work . Eat your Nigerian food but not in a train to discomfort others please.

@olu…… Yes! We eat and drink on the train to avoid latest. If you miss a train, that may cost you a lot. Moreover I will be pissed off though, seeing such. You can eat food on a go in the train, such as snacks. But eating amala on a train, is a big no no for me
