The Ogun State police command has arrested a 30-yearold panel beater, Wasiu Yusuf for allegedly stabbing his friend, Adeolu Olatoye to death at Oke – Efon Area of Adatan in Abeokuta metropolis.

Wasiu, in company of another friend, Mukaila Popoola, allegedly stabbed the 32-year-old graphic artist, Adeolu to death for having an affair with Busayo Yusuf on her matrimonial bed. While Mukaila is currently on the run, Wasiu and his wife, Busayo are being detained at the police command.

Community Mirror gathered that Wasiu, Mukaila and Adeolu, were friends and living in the same compound before the incident.

It was also gathered that Olatoye went to drop an invitation card for his mother’s 80th birthday anniversary with Wasiu before he was accused of sleeping with the suspect’s wife, who eventually used broken bottles and axe to inflict severe injuries that led to his death. Sympathisers also said the incident happened barely two weeks after the naming ceremony of his new born child.

They also alleged that Wasiu and, Mukaila were members of a secret cult and their actions were responsible for other tenants deserting the twostorey building. Police sources disclosed that during interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to laying ambush for the deceased when he visited his wife in their matrimonial home.

The suspect was said to have further claimed that the victim mistakenly stabbed himself during a scuffle while attempting to escape from his room. It was further gathered that the result of the autopsy at the state hospital mortuary Ijaiye, Abeokuta indicated that the deceased bled to death.

When contacted, the Deputy State Police Public Relations Officer, DPPRO, Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident and said that investigations are ongoing. “Information at our disposal is that the suspect met the deceased on his wife inside their room,” he said.
