August 23, 2016 – Journalists Warned To Stay Away As John Kerry Is Set To Visit Buhari In Aso Rock Today

The US Secretary of State, John Kerry, will today meet with Buhari at the Presidential villa in Abuja.

Kerry is expected to meet behind closed doors with President Buhari where the two leaders would hold bilateral discussion bothering on building stronger ties between Nigeria and the United States.

As security is beefed up in the presidency ahead of the visit, reporters have been barred from covering the activities with exception of cameramen who would only take establishment shots.

According to the schedule, the American scribe will also meet with five governors from the northern part of the country at the end of his bilateral talks with President Buhari.

Our correspondents gathered that all reporters throughout the period of Kerry’s stay in the villa will be confined to the briefing room of the council chambers.

Aside from establishing the arrival of the visiting Secretary of state at the forecourt of the presidential villa by about 2:55pm, only photographers and videographers will also be allowed to establish the bilateral meeting at the Grey room of the President’s office.

  1. No secret under this Sun that will not be reveled someday at the right time.

Perhaps JK has some bitter truth to tell buhari and the later doesn‘t want the World to know of it.
    Humm we are waiting o…
If the out come is good…
    THINGS CAN ONLY GET BETTER

    I take a stroll…

  2. The high level meeting with one of the top senior member of US government official is needed at this time. And I am grateful that the US administration has choosing to discourse the most pressing needs with there nigerian counterpart namely, counter terrorism effort, the nigerian economy, the fight against corruption and human right violation. It is imperative that our government seize this rear opportunity to engage in constructive discussion with kerry in the area of procurement of armament in the fight against terrorism and bilateral trade to revamp our already weak economy. Religious intolerance related to relentless killings in the country should also be addressed by the US secretary of state.

However, what I cannot figure out is why our journalist were not just barred from covering the spectacular occasion but also threatened with unspecified punishment. If they cites security reason for preventing our journalist from covering this important occasion ,I don’t think this is acceptable considering the fact that a lot of security scrutiny or checks would have been carried out on them before their “confinement in the briefing room of the council chambers” in the same presidential villa where both the delegate and our officials are all situated. It is really tiresome to imaging this would happen to our journalists. I don’t think videographer and photographer are sufficient enough to accurately cover this event in the absence of our journalists. I feared this may be another trampling on our press freedom in the country.

  3. its about how to deal with all the corrupt bastards in Nigeria and the forward for our beloved country its a good sign Nigeria is changing
