Lassa Fever Outbreak In Rivers State Nigeria Kills 2 “Avoid Contact With 8-Breasted Rats” – Health Commissioner Warns
2 people have died in Rivers state following the outbreak of Lassa fever in the state.
Dr Odagme Theophilus, Rivers State Health Commissioner said the state government is making efforts to trace the source of the disease.
He urged residents to avoid all forms of contact with rats and rodents to avoid being infested.
Lassa fever is a viral disease found in rats with 8 breasts.
The symptoms include high fever, swollen face and mouth, nose bleeding and nausea.
Lassa fever virus was first reported in Taraba state where one person died and two isolated.
