An Edo-born man identified as Denis Amayo has vowed to take his own life next week if Governor Oshiomhole refused to pay his 8-month pension arrears.
The angry 57-year-old pensioner disclosed this to news men in Benin, the capital city of Edo state on Tuesday morning.
The retired civil servant said he served for 35 years in the Ministry of Agriculture and retired in August 2013.
According to a document he revealed to journalists this morning, Denis Amayo joined the then Bendel State Ministry of Agriculture on July 7, 1978 and retired as a field overseer last year.
He said the death of his father whose corpse is in the mortuary, necessitated his demand for the payment of his pension arrears.
“I am my father’s first born. It will be immoral of me to task my younger ones to bring money for his burial while I cannot bring anything for the burial,” he stated.
In his hand-written petition to Governor Oshiomhole, the Igbanke-born father of four said the state was owing him “eight months pension arrears,” adding “please sir, pay me before February 14, 2014. I lost my father, otherwise, I will commit suicide.”
Shockingly, Mr Amayo said if Governor Adams Oshiomhole ignored his request, he will sacrifice his own life for other pensioners by killing himself on Valentine’s day.

Tina, u are a fool, this is why problems remained unsolved in Nigeria because life is too precious to us and we cannot make history, politicians are looting our money every day, no job in our country, people are die every seconds because of financial reasons to care for their health, boko haram killing and yet we cannot protest for the fear of death. This man can kill himself for others to be liberated and he will be termed a hero when others are saved, it is not a bad omen.

God forbid. why should you kill yourself bros, What is not enough today may become surplus tomorrow,We can only appeal to the gov. to assist by seeing your pension paid.Let me tell you if you kill yourself because of none payment of your pension u are a Coward but if u stand to face the challenge and wait in the lord u will be a Hero and be able to tell story when things are really hard for u.
