Nigeria Ranked Second Most Dangerous Country To Live In The World

nigeria most dangerous country in the world

June 17, 2015 – Nigeria Ranked Second Most Deadly Country To Live In The World

Nigeria has described as the second most deadly country in world after Iraq and has also been ranked amongst the most violent nations globally following incessant attacks on the country by Islamist sect, Boko Haram, in 2013 and 2014.

According to Global Peace Index rankings for 2014, Nigeria is now the second most deadly country for terrorism after Iraq, experiencing 140% increase in deaths to 4,392.
Nigeria’s neighbour Cameroon recorded 191 deaths in 2014 compared to none the previous year. Fewer than 1% of terrorist fatalities in 2014 occurred in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

Boko Haram’s massacre of over 2000 civilians in Baga, Nigeria in January 2015 was labelled the most deadly terrorist incident since 9/11, an event overshadowed by the murder of 11 journalists at French newspaper Charlie Hebdo the following month.
On the Global Peace Index, however, Nigeria got some reprieve as it was ranked only 14 places ahead of rock bottom Iraq in 162nd position. Egypt (149), Somalia (157), Sudan (158) and Democratic Republic of Congo (160).

The report to put the cost of violence around the world at a record $14.3 trillion in 2014, equivalent to the combined economies of Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.
“Reducing conflict is a crucial plank in ensuring continued world economic recovery. If global violence were to decrease by 10 per cent uniformly, an additional US$1.43 trillion would effectively be added to the world economy. To put this in perspective, this is more than six times the total value of Greece’s bailout and loans from the IMF, ECB and other Eurozone countries combined,” Steve Killelea, founder and executive chairman of Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) said in a statement.

According to the report, since 2008 the total economic impact of violence has increased by US$1.9 trillion (+15.3%). The economic impact from refugees and IDPs alone has increased by 267 per cent since 2008, and now amounts to US$128 billion. However military expenditure, homicide and police forces remain the most costly categories, accounting collectively for 68.3 per cent of the total cost.

Some of these statistics are quite spurious and speculative, how can Nigeria rank second most violent country in the world only after Iraq just because of Boko Haram insugencies in the North Eastern part of the country when, the dreaded ISIS is making lives uncomfortable in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Libya etc. Why don’t those who churn out the statistics check out the number of their citizines that fly daily to Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Kaduna, Port Harcoutr etc. to do business and, compare with those of them that are bold enough to travel and live in Syria, Iraq, Afganistan, Libya, Central African Republic, South Sudan, Somalia, Eritrea, Ukrane, Pakistan, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuala, Xenophobic South Africa or Zimbabwe where their compatriots have been declared outcasts and compaire with the large numbers of them who live in Nigeria with multi-Billion dollar investments. These kind of perceptions are grossly unfair on the Nigerian nation moreso, when a successful elections have just been achieved without foreign military assistance as happened in Mali, Afganistan and recently in Cote D’Ivoire etc. Even as the statistics are being circulated to mislead the rest of the world, there are areas or certain neighbourhood in New York city in the USA and other major cities of California, Chicago, Texas and even in Europe and everywhere around the world which are by far more dagerous than Nigeria. In all of these so called advanced societies, one dare not venture at certain places even during the day, else you are attacked and robbed by drug addicted hoodlums and even risks being shot at and killed if you resists. In a country where gun-totting hoodlums enter academic institutions out of public and social system failures, frustratingly take revenge on innocent colleagues by killing in 100s, could that society be any safer than Nigeria.? Nigeria has never been in the good books of these foreign human index statistical organisations except in the cases there exists largees to take advantage of in Nigeria. Nigeria should ignore the reports and move on as a nation not dependent on statistics to grow its economy.

its totally a misleading outcome of false statistics, when you rank nigeria the 2nd most dangerous place to live in,it means we nigerians live in an environment where bombs fly by us daily, like its a civil war, people get robbed daily everywhere, every day, everytime, name the place, church, mosque, school, eatery, bank,on the road, ppl make use of hard drugs freely(coke, weed, codeine) without arrest,I mean I can go on and on,
I think those who rate our country negatively are R acists.

But come to think of it,it mite be true o,
Have you ever opened any local/nigerian blogging site where negative news about we nigerians is not been reported,if its not a yahoo boy dat was arrested by efcc,it wud be about a kidnap case,as if we are cursed,we hear constant news about the unrepentant/deadly boko haram terrorists unleashing mayhem in northern parts,or its a Constant Rape Case everyday, where shameless and 100% all type of demons possesed male man under the chained forces of Konji would engage in a dastardly act of raping an innocent under-aged girl.
Its sick,I think since apc assumed power, the statistics of Rape Case has not only sky rocketed,it has now become a stale news.

We are all living in a country filled with terror, greed, constant and permanent power failure jealousy, pride, poverty, insecurity of lifes and property, constant hunger of younger generation to remain in the dimlight of being taGged a Yahoo Guy,fraud,

APC is not automatically a Direct Flight that would Bring About Change, its we Nigerians dat need to love one another,be our brothers and sisters keeper, learn to help develop our country into a more peaceful and organized country whereby you can always be proud to be called a Nigerian in a good reputation and not a Condemned Reputation, our reputation outside Nigeria is Horrible, they tag us as Fraudsters, liars, terrorists, looters, thieves.
We really need to change our mindset, let’s all come together as one.
Nigeria is the only country that has the highest number of churches,(uncountable) because every 2 weeks 30churches are being established by both who were called by God and who were being flashed by God,according to Gordons.

India, pakistan, irag, somalia, usa, brazil, libya, souti, ncommon ghana sef ppl shud go thr n see crime and insecurity, they wud run back to nigeria and even give thanks to God dat we r learning.

Stupid Unreasonable Wrong Statistical Global Peace Bullshit.
