Nigerian Couple, Pastor & Wife Starve Son To Death During 40-Day Fast In Reedsburg Wisconsin

A Nigerian husband and wife have been arrested in Wisconsin for allegedly starving their son to death.

The accused, 49-year-old Kehinde and 48-year-old Titilayo Omosebi were on Tuesday charged with child neglect causing death and child neglect causing great bodily harm, felonies charges that carry 37 years in prison.

The father of the deceased boy reported the death of his 15-year-old son at Reedsburg Police station on Sunday and when police arrived at the couple’s home, they found another extremely malnourished 11-year-old boy.

Although the mother was emaciated too, she rejected medical treatment, citing religious reasons. She is currently at Sauk County Jail as police took the 11-year old boy to Children’s Hospital in Madison.

Reedsburg Police revealed that Kehinde Omosebi who told investigators his family started a religious fast on the 19th of July 2018 said he was a minister affiliated with Cornerstone Reformation Ministries.

  1. Fasting I understand does not have to be undertaken by those whose constitution cannot stand it. Again, people may fast up to a particular time each day and not necessarily without eating and drinking all day long and all night long for the number of days the fasting programme is expected to last. Besides, fasting being self denial of what someone particularly likes, he or she has several options to deny himself of if for health reasons or for reason of frail body staying away from food is not a viable option. Thus one can opt to stop watching movies or reading novels etc as their fasting option for the duration of the fasting programme. Some people even are advised to drink water during fasting if they feel thirsty and are advised to stop fasting if at any time they feel weak.
It is unfortunate therefore that the young son had to join the programme if he could not withstand it. Perhaps there should be effort to educate the congregation about what fasting entails before they embark oh fasting programs. Sad indeed.

  2. Where did God instruct fasting to be to the death. The two of you killed your child because of your stupidity. Fasting is a personal decision never by force
